Grupo de Capoeira Semenet do Jogo de Angola

the group was officially founded in 1990 under the lead of Mestre Jogo de Dentro in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, In order to preserve and promote the tradition of Capoeira Angola, according to the way it was passed on from Mestre Joao Pequeno.
over the years the group expanded to other regions in Brazil such as Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais, and later to several countries around the world such as Canda, Italy and Israel among others, to which the Mestre makes annual visits in order to teach and help evolve their work with capoeira angola according to the group’s philosophy.

Jorge Egidio dos Santos, known in the Capoeira world as Mestre Jogo de Dentro started his way in capoeira in 1982, in the fort of Santo Antonio in the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil in Mestre Joao Pequeno’s academy.
After a year of training he was baptized by Mestre Joao Grande, from whom he received the nickname Jogo de Dentro (inside game) due to his style of playing capoeira.In 1986 Mestre Joao Pequeno passed to him the responsibility of the classes and the rodas in his academy during his absence, and in 1990 gave him the title of contra mestre as a recognition for his work with capoeira angola. During that time he replaced Mestre Joao Grande, as he left for the USA, and the group he led got the name “Heranca de Pastinha” (Pastinha’s heritage) and after some changes got the name “Semente do jogo de Angola” (seed of the angola game).
In 1994 Mestre Joao Pequeno gave his devoted disciple the title of Mestre de Capoeira Angola.
In 1996 he left Bahia to the state of Sao Paulo to continue expanding his work with capoeira angola, where he stayed for 12 years leaving behind responsible disciples in charge of continuing the work there.
In 2007 he returned to salvador and took back the responsibilities with the group there and in the suburbs, bairro do Calafate, where the group has community work with children and adolescents.
Today, in addition to his frequent travels abroad for teaching and promoting capoeira angola, he is realizing an old dream of building an official center for the group in the isle of Caixa Pregos near the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

In Israel

The group in Israel operates as an official branch of the capoeira group Semente do Jogo de Angola since Jan 2010, but began its activities at the end of 2005, as Capoeira Angola Israel.
In 2007 it opened in Haifa the first center dedicated entirely to Capoeira Angola and since 2008 Mestre Jogo de Dentro arrives here once a year in order to teach and accompany the group. since August 2011 the group operates in Tel Aviv as well.
