Tradição

a new exhibition by two very talented members of our group in Haifa, canario and Mikhal.
the subject for the exhibition is the rich tradition of capoeira angola.

Mikhal who recently graduated her studies in Shenkar acadmey in illustration and visual communication, took the capoeira music and especially the traditional songs as the theme for her final project, with another fountain of inspiration in the literatura de cordel. (pamphlets containing folk novels, poems and songs, which are produced and sold in fairs and by sidestreet vendors in the Northeast of Brazil)
the outcome is a magnificent illustrated book of trditional capoeira lyrics, made in linocut prints.

Canario, aka tant in the street art world, is a young promising artist who already had the chance to display his art in England, Germany, Poland, mexico and chine. some of his capoeira related work you can see through our website in the designs for our annual events. he choose as subject for this exhibition the old masters of capoeira angola, the guardians of tradition, who dedicated their lives for the continuation of this rich art form.  needless to say we’re very curious to see his new works.

we will celebrate the new exhibition opening with a very special evening as we always try to do.
we’ll start with a short capoeira angola roda, continue with a live show by the latin jazz group
LATIN ALLIANCE, after the show an electrifying Samba de Roda circle and finish with a some oldschool rubadub by Easyrida sound and a special set by raw tapes.

also a nice latin / Chanuka kitchen will serve some light dishes and a rich bar to quench your thirst
